So, a couple months ago we tossed a chunk of change at some anime box sets. wrdnrd bought all of Honey & Clover and I bought Utena. Partially that was so at some point we can live the dream of making the ultimate Total Eclipse of the Heart vid using it, but also it's because I really like the packaging (I am a sucker for nice packaging).

Here are the three boxes that make up the set. There's a little bit of bowing to them, the result of the shrinkwrap pressing in on them, but that's sort of to be expected. These have all the episodes, the movie, commentarys, extras (apparently there was a bunch of extras on the laserdisks, all of which was brought over onto these), and books with sketches and interviews.

Front side (I guess) of the boxes. I love the design scheme for these, with solid color and blacks (and don't tell me it's from the shadow puppet recap/transition sections, I know that!)

Back side. Sorry for the blurry pic. Anyway, just wanted to show that there are different pics on the back.
Speaking of the backs, all summaries, contents, marketing stuff, pull quotes, UPC codes, blah, blah, where on separate sheets of paper affixed with strong (but not damaging) fugitive glue*. I love things like this, so after I've shelled out my monies I'm left with a clean package.
*this is the actual name for "booger glue". Learn something every day here.

Just to finish off, here's character sketches from one of the booklets.
