Magical mystery medical cat update

SeƱor Stripe is back home! As much as the ER vet wants a follow up, hopefully we'll be dealing with the regular vet from now on. I appreciate the ER services a lot, but seriously, why wouldn't I prefer to work with the guy who's been regularly saving this idiot's life for the last 6 years? Our regular place is closed tomorrow, but wrdnrd and I will be staying home to keep an eye on him. Thursday the vet has another emergency patient in the morning, but they'll still find a way to fit Ed in (because they are awesome and the receptionist loves Ed).
Anyway, Ed seems to be doing fine. His last nosebleed was at 6am and was minor. The various things seen on x-ray and ultrasound in his lungs were not cancer (of course it's a bizarre thing in keeping with Ed's tendencies: a hole in his diaphragm that allows fat into his lung). He's eaten a bit, had a healthy amount to drink, and used his litter. That covers most of the items on the vet's checklist of things to watch out for.
Now we just have to keep the other cats from starting shit with him for a while. They don't like him because he smells funny right now and we were specifically instructed to keep him away from them so that any unhealed parts in his nose don't get aggravated.
Thanks for everyone's sympathy. Here's hoping this turns out to be another one of Ed's oddities that, while appearing frightening, results in treatment with some generic drugs and then he's fine. Until the next time at least.

Date: 2011-06-01 09:00 am (UTC)!!! That's cool that they were able to figure that out, though. & yay for the regular vet being available quickly! Glad he's back at home!! (does the trick of rubbing him w/a towel, so he smells more like home, less like vet, help at all?)

Date: 2011-06-01 04:05 pm (UTC)AHAHAHAHA ASSHOLE CATS!
Yeah, I think Hero & Mr. B are resentful of Lily for that too (hey, folks, maybe if you didn't fight w/her or stalk her, we could all sleep in the bedroom together, etc.!).

Date: 2011-06-01 03:56 pm (UTC)I'm putting my money on this being caused by an allergic inflammation of the inner nose or sinus. They said that sort of thing is uncommon, but Ed already has a lot of uncommon allergic issues.
